Chinese tourists shrink, Trump's turmoil drags down Thai economy, KKP lowers GDP to 2.3%

Today (23 March 2025), Kiatnakin Phatra Financial Group or Kiatnakin Phatra (KKP) assessed that the Thai economy still has a low growth trend and faces high uncertainty from the US trade policy. This is based on economic data for 2023, which grew at a relatively low rate of only 2.5%, even though tourism has recovered well and there have been large cash handouts from the government. This clearly indicates weakness in other sectors of the Thai economy.
